Cruzeir Edu Dracena Close To Rome
Edu Dracena 接近罗马
Edu Dracena looks like he’ll finally be making the long-postponed second move to Europe after the World Cup draws to a close. The Cruzeiro centre-back didn’t figure in the final Seleção Brasileira that Carlos Alberto Parreira submitted to FIFA on Monday, but looks set to embark for Europe – and specifically AS Roma – soon after.
According to Dracena himself, fellow centre-back Antônio Carlos is the middleman in the negotiations. The ex-São Paulo, Palmeiras and Roma stopper is currently coming back to playing duties in the ranks of Juventude after a lamentable racist gesture marred an otherwise impeccable reputation, but is also brokering the deal.
“I’ve spoken to Antônio Carlos and he told me that Roma were interested in me, and he wanted to know how I’d feel about playing with Roma, so we talked for a while about various things and we’ll see how it all turns out”, explained Dracena.
The Cruzeiro management, however, deny that they’ve received any firm offer for Dracena. This caused a smirk and a raised eyebrow from the defender as the Perrella brothers that run Cruzeiro always say the same thing as negotiations begin.
“The European ex ecs are talking with the Cruzeiro management and with my agent as well, but there’s still no official offer from any club in concrete terms of figures, terms and conditions – but there is more than one club involved.”
The player had one fruitless attempt to reproduce the solid play he displays so often in Brazil in Europe with Olympiakos for the second half of 2002, but things didn’t pan out. Wanderley Luxemburgo was also desperate for him to replace Samuel at Madrid, and there are also “Spanish and English offers as well” signalled the player who’s perhaps closer to Rome that he’s letting on.
