| | Roma’s transfer embargo expires in the summer and their first target is Udinese hitman Vincenzo Iaquinta.
"It's too early to discuss transfer matters now," insisted Udinese director general Pietro Leonardi. "It isn't respectful to the player or an entire squad trying to avoid relegation."
The Giallorossi can bring in reinforcements from the summer and Iaquinta would be a replacement for Antonio Cassano, who was sold to Real Madrid in January. With Vincenzo Montella and Shabani Nonda also dealing with recurring injuries, there are few forwards at their disposal.
He would reunite with his former Udinese Coach, Luciano Spalletti, but the main problem could be his price-tag.
The Friuli outfit refuse to sell for less than £7m, especially with the possibility he’ll be part of Italy’s World Cup side going to Germany.
Iaquinta’s future is expected to be elsewhere, as he was frozen out of the squad earlier this season for demanding a pay rise. His form never quite recovered after that time spent in the stands, but he was allowed back in when he signed a contract extension until 2010.
Another option for Roma’s attack is Lecce’s Serb forward Mirko Vucinic, who scored 19 goals in 28 Serie A games last season.
