Del Neri set for Palermo sack?
Palermo’s 3-0 defeat at Inter last night could prove the final straw for Luigi Del Neri, as Carlo Mazzone is ready to step in.
Patron Maurizio Zamparini has been publicly criticising his Coach and his tactics for several weeks and last night’s loss at the San Siro prompted another rethink.
In particular, the fact that they conceded all three goals from set-pieces is said to have angered the club hierarchy.
It’s reported the President met with director general Rino Foschi this morning for a crisis meeting.
If Del Neri is given the sack, then the main candidate to replace him on the Stadio Renzo Barbera bench is veteran Mazzone.
The Coach has been unemployed since Bologna’s relegation in the summer, but hinted in an interview with radio station AGR this week that he was waiting for a call from a top flight outfit.
Del Neri only joined Palermo this season after he was fired by Porto and walked out on Roma in the same campaign.（channel4）
