Roma completed the signing of midfielder Stefano Guberti on a free transfer on June 22 and the 24-year-old was in buoyant mood as he was unveiled to the press at Trigoria this morning.
“I hope I will not be just a passing player,” he said. “And I hope to prove wrong those who perhaps were expecting a ‘bigger’ name.”
Guberti became a free agent after helping Bari back into the top flight last term and had a long line of suitors.
“Roma were the team that showed more interest in me,” he explained. “They made it clear that I would have had the possibility of proving my worth, without sending me out somewhere else.
“I prefer playing on the left, but my strong foot is the right, so I can cut in from the left. My best trait is the dribbling, but I guess I will have to shape up my body.
“I just got here but I am getting to know everyone and Francesco Totti is a good lad, very open-minded.”
