Roma welcome back Cassano
Antonio Cassano is available for selection after he cleared the air with Gigi Del Neri, while new reports suggest Russian investors are back in town.
“Following a meeting between director Rossella Sensi, Coach Luigi Del Neri and the player Antonio Cassano, the latter’s position has been clarified,” read an official club statement this evening.
“The player recognised his behaviour was not fitting with the rules of the club and has apologised to the Coach and all of AS Roma. This meeting has cleared up any past misunderstanding.”
It’s a crucial development in the Cassano saga, as he had been frozen out of the squad for the past couple of weeks after an alleged row with Del Neri and refusing to attend a meeting with directors.
Del Neri now has the entire squad at his disposal, as Christian Panucci has also cleared the air with the tactician following a similar scenario.
Contract renegotiation talks with Cassano’s agent can now begin and he will be able to play against Reggina on Sunday afternoon.
