Cristian Chivu should return to action in March after the Roma star passed his latest medical.
The Romanian has missed almost all of the season to date following two operations on a broken foot.
The central defender underwent a series of examinations on Tuesday evening and was given the all clear.
Chivu, who can also play as a left-back, will now start full training with the rest of the squad over the next couple of days.
The former Ajax man is expected to be fully fit again in around four weeks time, which will be a major boost for the club who are now looking good for a top-four finish.
Chivu, who was a revelation last season, broke a bone in his foot while on a beach holiday during the summer.
He did return for the Champions’ League game against Bayer Leverkusen before being told that he would require more surgery on the injury.
