Cassano ban cut on appeal
Roma’s Antonio Cassano will be available for the Lecce game after his two-match ban was reduced.
The Italian international was handed the suspension after being dismissed in the 1-0 win over Fiorentina.
Cassano was red carded in Week 1 after he clashed with Under-21 international stopper Giorgio Chiellini.
The Giallorossi’s first appeal against the sentence failed on Friday but a second attempt proved successful today.
Cassano appeared in person in front of the CAF appeal court who cut the two-match stop to just one.
Seeing as the former Bari youngster was ruled out of the Messina game yesterday, he is now free to play with immediate effect.
However, he must prove to boss Rudi Voller that he is in the right frame of mind to return in the Week 3 fixture at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday.(CHANNEL4)
