Report: Ranieri, Allegri, Scolari & Giampaolo On Roma’s Coaching Shortlist
According to Rome-based daily Corriere dello Sport, Roma have drawn up a shortlist of candidates to replace coach Luciano Spalletti, who is being strongly linked with a move to Milan.
The list includes Juventus' under-fire tactician Claudio Ranieri, former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari and up-and-coming tacticians Massimiliano Allegri and Marco Giampaolo, who are currently in charge of Cagliari and Siena respectively.
Spalletti is tied to the Eternal City outfit until 2011, but he is reportedly flirting with Milan and could opt for a fresh start this summer.
Scolari was close to joining Roma a few years ago before Spalletti took the reins and is said to be keen on trying his hand in Serie A after being sacked by Premier League side Chelsea last February.
Ranieri’s position at Juve is also in doubt after failing to hit any of their targets this season and the 57-year-old would jump at the opportunity to manage his hometown club, where he started his footballing career in 1973.
Roma currently lie sixth in Serie A and look set to miss out on a place in next season’s Champions League - they trail fourth-placed Fiorentina by six points.
