After coming close to signing winger Stefano Guberti during the January transfer window, Roma have now reportedly struck a deal to bring him in next summer.
According to the Guerin Sportivo, the Bari player’s agent, Claudio De Nicola, has reached an initial agreement with the Lupi directors and Guberti will soon pen a three-year contract worth 600,000 per season.
The 24-year-old joined Serie B leaders Bari from Ascoli on loan in January, however, his contract with the Marchigiani will expire in June and he will become a free agent.
“[Roma sporting director Daniele] Prade has been following Stefano for two and a half years,” De Nicola admitted to Radio Incontro yesterday.
“However, Ascoli put a hefty price tag on him. He is an intelligent lad and I’m sure he will make the right decision. I believe he would perfectly fit into [Roma coach Luciano] Spalletti’s system, playing out wide on the left.
“We were also contacted by Juventus last summer. They offered a three-year deal but he would have been loaned out to Atalanta in the first year and we were not given any guarantees they would call him back after that loan spell. We turned their offer down.”
