L’Aeroplanino to land new deal Friday 1 April, 2005

Serie A top scorer Vincenzo Montella is on the verge of signing a contract extension with Roma.
The striker’s current deal expires in 2006 but reports suggests that he will soon commit his future to the outfit until 2009.
The former Sampdoria player, known as the ‘Little Aeroplane’, has been a revelation this season and he’s already admitted that he’s keen to stay in Rome.
“I have the desire to stay here, to prolong my deal, and I know the club are keen too,” he said last month.
“I’m one of the few players to have remained from the Scudetto squad of 2001, that is something I am proud of as it makes me feel like a part of a project.”
The Giallorossi have admitted that they unsuccessfully tried to sell the international in the summer but he’s hit back with goals.
“I’ve spent some important years of my life here,” he added. “I think that I have given and received a lot from this shirt.”
The capital side are actively looking to keep their best players at the club after Alberto Aquilaini extended his stay last night.
Defender Traianos Dellas is set to follow and talks with Francesco Totti, whose present agreement expires in 2006, could also begin today.
The captain’s representative, Adolfo Leonardi, is expected to meet club officials over the next few days over a possible renewal until 2010.
