Andrea Belotti is closer to a new contract agreement with Torino, claim Sky Sport Italia, but significant problems still remain on the release clause.
The striker’s current deal only runs to the end of the current campaign, so the race is on to either extend or make the sale to avoid losing him to a free transfer.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, there has been significant progress in negotiations today.
That is an increase of his salary to 3.3m per season, which Il Gallo would seem happy with.
The main sticking point now is the release clause, as it’s claimed Belotti would like it to be a more affordable 20-25m.
On the other hand, Toro are hoping to set it at a minimum of 40m.
His current contract has a release clause worth 100m, but it is valid only for clubs outside of Italy.
Belotti has been linked with both Atalanta and Roma, depending on the other transfer moves that open up spaces in their squads.
