Francesco Totti has no qualms in claiming that Roma are a better team than their arch rivals Lazio.
“We are the best team in the city,” he noted during the unveiling of a new street in the Italian Capital.
The two teams will face off in Sunday night’s derby and the atmosphere is already hotting up.
“Of course it won’t be a game like any other,” added the Giallorossi captain. “A derby is always special and separate from everything else than goes on during a season.”
Last year Lazio were flying high in the League while Roma finished in eighth place, but both derbies ended in a draw.
“We must always respect our opponents,” concluded Totti, “and keep the fans in mind. I am certain it will be a cracking game and may the best team win.”
Totti missed the midweek UEFA Cup tie due to a back problem, but will be fit enough to start Sunday’s showdown.
There is very little chance of seeing Cristian Chivu in action after he fell awkwardly on to his right shoulder, but a final fitness test will be performed on Sunday morning.
