MILAN, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Italian market regulator Consob has placed troubled soccer club A.S. Roma on a list of stocks requiring close monitoring by the watchdog, a source close to Consob said on Tuesday.
"Consob has asked A.S. Roma to give the market monthly updates on its economic, financial and capital situation," the source said.
A.S. Roma''''''''s auditors, Grant Thornton, last month declined to sign the club''''''''s accounts for the year ending June 30, citing uncertainties about its financial situation.
The soccer club was not immediately reachable for comment.
Sixteen floated companies are listed on Consob''''''''s watch list alongside A.S. Roma, including soccer club Lazio .
The monthly report required by Consob will contain data on Roma''''''''s net financial position, short-term debt, updated information on its restructuring plans, details on tax and social security debts as well as debts to employees.
In a separate statement on Tuesday, A.S. Roma said it would not be able to pay its tax dues after parent company Roma 2000 failed to reimburse the debts it owed the soccer club. A.S. Roma said it had called a board meeting for Nov. 6.
