Federico Pastorello has been blasted by Torino president Urbano Cairo and coach Alberto Zaccheroni for touting Fiore to interested clubs through the press, but the agent insisted yesterday: "He still has beautiful memories of Fiorentina, though I'm not sure if they want to take him, otherwise I would have heard.

"But he would very happily return to Florence if given the chance."

Stefano Fiore will surprisingly end the season at Livorno after he completed a loan switch from Torino. The former Italian international has been linked with the Amaranto for the last few weeks and the Tuscan side have finally got their man this evening. “He was our primary target as he was specifically wanted by our Coach Daniele Arrigoni,” announced President Aldo Spinelli. “It was a transfer which was very difficult to finalise as dealing with [Torino owner Urbano] Cairo is harder than doing business with people from Genoa... “But we are all very happy and the Coach is very enthusiastic.” The move was also complicated by the fact that the midfielder only joined the Granata in the summer on loan from Valencia. “We did get Valencia’s authorisation and we will also speak to them in the future to see if a longer marriage can be agreed,” added the fiery chief. Fiore was keen on a Toro exit given his frosty relationship with boss Alberto Zaccheroni, who arrived just days after Fiore had already agreed to his summer move.

Ex-Azzurri midfield star Stefano Fiore has completed a move to Serie B outfit Mantova. The 32-year-old revealed he would leave Spanish side Valencia earlier this summer after a miserable spell at the Mestalla. Fiore spent the last two years on loan at Fiorentina, Torino and Livorno, but despite impressing in the Viola’s superb 2005-06 campaign he couldn’t secure a permanent move back to Italy. After mounting speculation surrounding his future, the Cosenza native has agreed to drop down to the Cadetti to rejuvenate his career. Fiore has signed a one-year contract with the Virgiliani and has the option of a two-year extension if the Biancorossi are promoted to the top flight. He will now rescind his contract with Valencia and meet his teammates at training on Thursday afternoon when he will be unveiled at the Stadio Martelli. Mantova season ticket sales are up to a club record of 5,800 ahead of the season opener against Ravenna on Saturday.
