Candela shocked by Mexes snub Thursday 18 May, 2006

Vincent Candela is the latest man to question the decision to leave Roma’s Philippe Mexes out of France’s World Cup squad.
The capital defender was omitted from Raymond Domenech’s 23-man party on Sunday much to the amazement of the Italian football community.
Teammate Olivier Dacourt blasted the Les Bleus boss yesterday as a result and now the Udinese defender has mirrored that criticism.
“I don’t understand why Mexes has not been selected even though he is one of the best players around,” he told Radio Centro Suono.
“I really don’t know how the French national team mechanism works anymore,” continued the ex-Roma man.
"我从来就不明白法国国家队的用人机制是怎么一回事."
“When French players came to Italy then they were always picked, but now that doesn’t happen even if there are not as many playing in the peninsula anymore.”
Mexes has just had a stunning season which underlined exactly why the club signed him from Auxerre two years ago.
But despite returning to his high levels of the past and winning a French recall in March, Mexes won’t be off to Germany.
“Domenech didn’t even come to the Stadio Olimpico to watch Philippe and myself play,” Dacourt stated on Wednesday.
“It is a real shame for Mexes. I am now 32 and I would rather stay at home with my kids than go to a World Cup and sit on the bench.
"这是对梅克斯的真正的侮辱,我今年32岁了,但我宁可和孩子们呆在家里也不会去世界杯赛场上坐板凳."
“Philippe deserved a call-up though, he has had a wonderful campaign and this would have been his first World Cup.
“I’m really, really disappointed for him.”
