Nakata out – Perrotta in Wednesday 10 August, 2005 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roma's Simone Perrotta is being linked with a move to Fiorentina given the likely departure of Premiership bound Hidetoshi Nakata. The Viola are being continually linked with central midfielders and one will definitely arrive with Nakata set for a move to Bolton. The Japanese international has failed to impress at the Stadio Franchi and will move on before the start of the season. Nakata, who recently featured on the club’s pre-season tour of Japan, will be handed to the English club on loan. Whispers suggest that sporting director Pantaleo Corvino met with Giovanni Branchini, the player’s agent, to finalise details yesterday. Once Nakata’s move is completed, Fiorentina will then start talks with Roma over a possible swoop for Perrotta. The latter only joined the Giallorossi last summer but has struggled to settle at the Stadio Olimpico. Perrotta, who worked briefly with new Viola boss Cesare Prandelli last term, is an Italian international. Reports suggest that the Tuscan outfit are also keen on teammate Daniele De Rossi but Roma consider him untransferable. Fiorentina have also been linked with Cristian Ledesma of Lecce and Juventus’ Manuele Blasi.
