Claudio Ranieri has refused to confirm reports that Roma are set to launch a bid to sign Flamengo striker Adriano, but hinted it would be a risk worth taking.
“I don’t know anything about it and even if knew something, I would not tell you,” the tactician said during a press conference.
Adriano has admitted that the Giallorossi have already made an approach for his services, but there are fears that the 28-year-old might fall back into old habits in Italy after quitting Inter last year due to a number of off-pitch problems.
“Would I be ready to gamble on Adriano? I never gamble, but my career has been a series of gambles", chuckled Ranieri, before insisting that the group is what really matters.
“The fans have appreciated the message that we have to give our all on the pitch. We will look for good players who are also capable of conveying emotions to the fan. My main aim will be to help Roma do even better next season.”
