Inter transfer market consultant Lele Oriali has slammed Marco Materazzi’s outburst against potential signing Emerson.
The defender told La Gazzetta dello Sport that he was not pleased with the rumours pairing the Brazilian to the San Siro outfit, despite Coach Roberto Mancini’s words of praise for the midfielder.
The world champion cited El Puma’s behaviour last summer, when he had criticised former Juventus teammates Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Patrick Vieira for joining the Nerazzurri after Juve’s demotion to Serie B.
“We will have to speak to Materazzi about Emerson, I think he only expressed his personal opinion,” Oriali said during Inter’s friendly win over Partizan Belgrade.
“He is not called to do so, this is not his job, he should only focus on playing,” added the former midfielder.
“In any case, I don’t think there are the necessary conditions for Emerson to join us, it certainly doesn’t depend on the fact that Materazzi doesn’t want him.”
The official was also questioned on Cristian Chivu, who the latest reports suggest is close to being officially unveiled as an Inter player on Wednesday.
“That is what I have heard, but I want to deny these rumours. There is no negotiation under way or near to being finalised,” cautioned the official.
“It is logical that Presidents meet and speak during the Lega assemblies, but no deal has been struck,” explained Oriali.
