Roma win stadium appeal Thursday 20 January, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma will play their next Coppa Italia game at the Stadio Olimpico but the match will still be behind closed doors.

The Giallorossi were told that their quarter final, on January 26, would be played on a neutral ground, and in front of no fans, following the crowd disturbances in the last round at Siena.

That clash was suspended for over an hour after the capital fans threw flares onto the pitch, severely reducing visibility.

Roma lawyer Antonio Conte lodged an appeal on Tuesday and the disciplinary commission have now agreed that Roma will be able to host the game against Fiorentina. However, supporters will still be excluded.

如果说罗马的大胜是有意对博彩集团的宣战的话
那还是很赞的
否则实在不明白内里为什么要对这个小破烂比赛大费周章

Roma fight for fans

Roma have decided to battle on against the ruling that their next Coppa Italia match should be played behind closed doors.

Fans had been banned from their next cup outing against Fiorentina, which takes place on January 26, for disciplinary reasons.

Last Thursday, Roma’s travelling tifosi caused mayhem in their tie against Siena when they launched flares that filled the ground with smoke. Visibility was so bad that the match was suspended for over an hour.

In response, the Football League’s disciplinary committee ruled that the Giallorossi must play their clash in the competition on a neutral ground, and without the presence of spectators.

The capital club successfully lodged an appeal against the stadium ban but the panel insisted that fans would not be allowed to watch the game at the Olimpico.

Roma have now decided to take their case to CAF, the Federal Appeals Committee, to argue that the match should not be played behind closed doors.

The appeal will be made this afternoon, when Giallorossi lawyer Antonio Conte will suggest that the club simply receives a fine.(CHANNEL4)

Roma win second appeal Friday 21 January, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roma have won the right for fans to attend their next Coppa Italia game against Fiorentina.

After winning one appeal to have the match played at the Olimpico, and not at a neutral venue, the club have now also successfully argued that their quarter-final encounter shouldn’t be played behind closed doors.

The club had been handed the punishments after fan trouble at last week’s Siena clash caused the tie to be suspended for over an hour.

Roma this afternoon took the matter to CAF, an independent appeals body, to argue that supporters should be permitted into the arena.

They presented a number of precedents in which other clubs have turned ‘behind closed doors’ rulings into a fine.

The actions of Roma captain Francesco Totti, who pleaded with tifosi to stop throwing flares onto the pitch, was also cited in the hearing to his and the club’s merit.
