Barca in Dacourt admission
Barcelona have confirmed making enquiries for Roma midfielder Olivier Dacourt.
The Catalan outfit are looking to land a defensive midfielder following long-term injuries to Thiago Motta and Edmilson.
A host of players have been linked with a move to Camp Nou including Edu, Dietmar Hamann, Gerardo Torrado and Vagner.
Barca director of sport Tkixi Beguiristain denied the club had settled on the player they wanted to sign when the transfer window reopened, but acknowledged an interest in Dacourt.
"We have still not decided anything, nor have we spoken directly to any player," he stated.
When pressed about Dacourt, he admitted: "Yes, it's true that we have received information on this player."
However, one player Los Cules will definitely not be signing is Internazionale star Edgar Davids.
The Dutchman has failed to hold down a starting berth with the Nezazzurri since joining, but Beguiristain insists his decision to snub Barca last summer has ruined any chance of a return to the club where he spent six months on loan last season.
"The situation is different to last year," he declared. "Davids already knew us and he preferred to go to another club. That's that."
