The Giallorossi see the Ivorian attacking midfielder as Amantino Mancini’s perfect partner in the midfield department.
AS Roma are ending this season 2nd in Serie A, and have recently lifted the Coppa Italia, their first trophy in the last 6 years.
Following their successful season, expectations in view of next year are high, and the Giallorossi management are ready to invest a reasonable sum to strengthen the team, and re-confirm themselves as competitors for the Scudetto.
The name that appears on top of Roma’s shopping list is that of Abdul Kader Keita, a 25-year-old Ivorian attacking midfielder who is currently with Ligue 1 side OSC Lille.
Keita, who has previously been tracked by Inter and Milan, has drawn the interest of the Roma officials, who believe that the player can adapt to Spalletti’s customary formation.
Once signed, Keita would play as an attacking midfielder alongside Mancini, either on the right or in the middle, besides providing natural cover - something that tactician Spalletti has put forward as a requirement ahead of next season.
AS Roma are expected to pay 10 million euros to Lille in order to purchase the Ivorian.
