Antonio Cassano is reportedly ready to stay at Roma if the outfit meet his substantial contract demands.

The Italian is only tied to the outfit until 2006 and talks regarding a renewal will commence next week.

Cassano’s agent, Giuseppe Bozzo, is expected to meet with the club on Thursday or Friday where he will start negotiations.

The 23-year-old is said to be willing to snub a move, to either Juventus or Real Madrid, so long as he is handed a new five-year contract.

However, his wage demands are set to cause conflict with the Giallorossi as he wants £3m-a-season, gradually rising to £4m in the final year of any agreement.

The Olimpico boys want to keep hold of the international but those figures are set to be too steep for the outfit who are still looking to cut their debts.

Therefore a summer sale seems more likely, especially as the club are already having to dig deep to keep both Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti in Rome.

Roma are set to cash in on the former Bari player, expecting to net around £22m for the classy forward.

Ternana have released an official statement denying the story, but Luis Antonio Jimenez could be used as part of the Antonio Cassano deal.

The 20-year-old talent has long been linked with the Turin giants, but with his Serie B side struggling the time is right for him to move on.


The young Chilean is a right-sided midfielder is likely to be loaned out to Lecce or Messina to become better accustomed to the top flight, but newspaper ‘Tuttosport’ has another theory.


Jimenez had also been tracked by Roma last season and could well be used as bait to tempt them into releasing Antonio Cassano.


It is well known that Fabio Capello wishes to be reunited with the Italian international, who has also not hidden his desire to play for the Bianconeri.


Cassano’s contract is set to expire in 2006 and renegotiations have not gone well, as he is reportedly demanding the same wages as captain Francesco Totti.


But it is his character which has caused the most problems, bickering with all four of Roma’s Coaches this season and only ever really tamed by Bari’s Eugenio Fascetti and Juve boss Capello during his career.

Juventus are on the verge of sealing a deal for Ternana midfielder Luis Jimenez.
  
The Chilean youngster has attracted interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid over the past 18 months, but Juve's alliance agreement with Ternana has left them in the box seat to secure the midfielder.

Jimenez's transfer is expected to be rubberstamped before the end of the season and he will immediately be loaned out to a Serie A rival.

Messina and Lecce have been mentioned, while Juve could offer Jimenez as part of their bid for AS Roma striker Antonio Cassano.
