[channel4] Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti has revealed the bitter feud between Francesco Totti and Amantino Mancini stretches back 18 months.
“There was a clash during a training match at Castelrotto over a year ago and they took the matter into the locker room afterwards,” explained the tactician after it emerged this week that the two players were not on speaking terms.
“I saw it was carrying on and we had a chat, but clearly some rancour remained. I tried talking to them and they kept assuring me there were no problems, but you could see something was wrong.”
De facto President Rosella Sensi claimed that the matter had been “resolved”, but Spalletti hints that isn’t entirely true.
“They were irritable with each other, but the evidence says these are two players who combine well on the field, so I let it run. I have a great deal of faith in their intelligence. They respect each other, say hello and lately even their teammates have started joking about the situation.
