What seemed a done deal on Thursday evening has been complicated after agent Fernando Hidalgo and Roma sporting director Daniele Pradé failed to agree economic terms. Whispers circulating around the peninsula suggest that Roma offered Pizarro a four-year contract worth £1.1m per season. However, the 27-year-old Chilean does not intend to lower his current Inter salary which is £1.4m per season – plus bonuses. A new meeting is scheduled for Friday, with Pizarro in control of his destiny after Inter and Roma agreed a £4m co-ownership deal. Meanwhile, Roma have been given a deadline by Alou Diarra of Lens – the other midfielder on Coach Luciano Spalletti’s wish-list. Roma had already agreed a £3.4m fee with the French club to sign the player on a four-year deal, but negotiations have stalled because of the alleged imminent signing of Pizarro.
