<P>De Rossi Close To Signing New Contract<BR>Daniele De Rossi is close to signing a new contract with Roma, according to the Corriere dello Sport.</P>
<P>The 24-year-old has been locked in negotiations with the club for a few months now, and his future was in doubt with his contract running out in 2009. </P>
<P>There were reports earlier today that De Rossi had suspended contract talks until the summer due to a lack of progress, however this does not seem to be the case. </P>
<P>The midfielder is set to pen a new five year-contract, which will bag him 3.5m a season rising to 5m. This will see De Rossi break the Roma salary cap of 2.5m a year.
De Rossi is Roma through-and-through and is widely expected to take over as captain of the club once Francesco Totti eventually retires.
The combative schemer is not the only Giallorossi player involved in contract negotiations currently. Alexander Doni, Alberto Aquilani and Amantino Mancini are all expected to pen new deals over the coming months.
