Okaka has been lined up to sign for the newly promoted Serie A outfit all summer, and indeed was on the verge of a move a couple of weeks ago.
However, Roma coach Luciano Spalletti put the brakes on the deal at the last minute as the club were still short on numbers up-front.
The signing of Real Madrid’s Julio Baptista has helped bolster the forward ranks, and Spalletti is now willing to release Okaka, but only after this Sunday’s Suppercoppa Italiana against bitter rivals Inter.
Okaka, who was born in Umbria to Nigerian parents, is highly rated in the peninsula, and recently helped Italy Under-19s to second place in the European Championships.
The 18-year-old joined the Roma youth system from Cittadella in 2004, and spent last season on-loan at Serie B side Modena, scoring seven goals.
Bologna have been very prominent in the summer transfer market so far, signing Paonessa (Avellino), Volpi (Sampdoria), Bernacci (Ascoli), C Zenoni (Sampdoria), Coda (Crotone), Coelho (Corinthians), Rodriguez (Penarol), Mudingayi (Lazio), Britos (Montevideo Wanderers), and Lanna (Torino).
