Udinese have told Roma to forget about any hopes of signing David Di Michele before the transfer deadline.
Stories in the peninsula today have suggested that the Italian international will be targeted if Antonio Cassano, whose contract expires in 2006, is sold.
But the Bianconeri have maintained that the ex-Reggina ace will not be joining former boss Luciano Spalletti in the capital.
"David Di Michele will not leave Udinese," Friuli director general Pietro Leonardi told Radio Radio.
"Our attacker will not join Roma. We have absolutely no intention of breaking up the squad at this stage."
In fact, Udinese are more likely to strengthen the side following their safe passage into the Champions League group stages.
The Bianconeri should now be guaranteed between £7m and £10m from the competition following the 4-2 aggregate win over Sporting Lisbon.
Whispers in northern Italy suggest that they could make a late bid for Brescia stopper Gilberto Martinez.
In other transfer news, Sampdoria have allowed Thomas Herve Job, 20, to join Cremonese on loan.（CHANNEL4）
