Mancini to pen new deal
Alessandro Mancini will sign a new deal with Roma despite catching the eye of numerous other clubs.
"Barcelona contacted us during the summer, as did one of the major Italian sides, but Mancini wants to remain here and he won’t change his mind," said agent Alemao.
The midfielder’s representative, who played in Italian football with Napoli, is currently in the peninsula to conclude talks over an extension.
"I will be meeting with sporting director Franco Baldini this week and I don’t think there will be any problem regarding a renewal," added the South American.
"Roma want to keep hold of the player and Mancini is ready to sign because he is very happy here."
The 24-year-old Brazilian was a revelation in Serie A last season after he returned from a loan spell at Venezia.
Mancini, who is set to remain in the capital until 2009, was awesome on the right flank for the Giallorossi last term.
In transfer news, Napoli are still preparing for the new season after they were included in Serie C1.
They already signed Roberto Sosa over the weekend and are now targeting two more offensive players.
The Azzurri, now known as Napoli Soccer, want Ternana midfielder Luis Jimenez and young Milan striker Nicola Pozzi.
