Gigi Del Neri is reportedly considering his future at Roma following yesterday’s 3-0 loss at Cagliari.
The tactician held talks with officials for over an hour last night as the Giallorossi plunged into crisis.
Some reports even suggest that the tactician has offered his resignation even if those stories haven’t been confirmed by the capital outfit.
Sunday’s loss was Roma’s third in a row and the club have now collected just three points – the win against Livorno – from a possible 15.
Del Neri, sacked by Porto just weeks after his arrival, was only appointed in September following a turbulent summer at the Stadio Olimpico.
The club opted for Cesare Prandelli to replace the Juventus bound Fabio Capello, but the former Parma man was forced to quit for family reasons.
Former German national boss and Roma legend Rudi Voller took over but he walked away less than a month into his adventure.
Del Neri initially struggled and had high-profile bust-ups with Christian Panucci and Antonio Cassano.
But things started to settle and it did look as if Roma could end the campaign in the top-four and thus qualify for the Champions’ League.
Yet that is now looking increasingly unlikely and Del Neri was heavily criticised after last week’s 2-1 loss to rivals Juventus.
That saw the club, who announced a media blackout yesterday, linked with a summer move for Lecce boss Zdenek Zeman who is a favourite with the Olimpico fans.
Should Del Neri quit the club then the side is expected to be guided by either Ezio Sella or youth team boss Alberto De Rossi, father of midfielder Daniele, on a temporary basis.
