Lippi trusts in Totti

Marcello Lippi is expecting Francesco Totti to make a significant contribution to the Italian cause over the next 10 days.
The Roman has yet to appear for Lippi’s Italy but he looks set to feature in the qualifiers against Slovenia and Belarus.
"I’m happy to have Totti at my disposal and this Totti in particular. He played really well against Inter by illustrating a great amount of determination," stated the Coach.
"He’s getting back to his best and he put in an important display thanks to some wonderful touches and his stunning goal.
"This is what I expect from this player even if I have said in the past that I don’t want to put too much responsibility on any individual."
The No 10 missed the games against Norway and Moldova last month, due to suspension and then injury, but the Azzurri still won without him.
"I want us to continue from where we left off," stated Lippi. "It is my hope to see the players back with the same spirit.
"I’m convinced that all of the men who I have called up are in excellent form and condition. I don’t expect to make massive changes to the side over the two games."
Lippi has made some brave decisions by leaving out the likes of Antonio Cassano, Fabrizio Miccoli and Andrea Pirlo, but he looks set to continue with that trend.
"This is a competition that lasts for two years and therefore you can’t really have a first choice team in your head over that amount of time," he explained.
"I will just look to take advantage of the players who are in the best form throughout the qualifiers.
"Only once we have qualified and are approaching the actual tournament will I seriously think about a possible regular line-up."
