Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani signed a contract extension with the club on Tuesday after months of negotiations. The Rome-born player has given specific thanks to president Rosella Sensi. "I thank president Sensi for giving me the opportunity to continue a dream in my city with the team that belongs in my heart," he said in an interview with tuttomercatoweb. "Now, I am going to Amsterdam to continue my rehabilitation, but I will come back soon. I want to give my best for these fans, something I have not been able to do because of my physical problems." Aquilani has suffered from a number of injuries, most recently to his ankle, limiting him to just 14 Serie A appearances all season. The player has not featured for the Giallorossi since the clash against Arsenal in the Champions League in March. His new deal will expire in June 2013. Adam Scime, Goal.com
