Vincenzo Montella’s injury problems have gone from bad to worse as it has now emerged that he will be sidelined for at least eight weeks due to a knee injury.

Montella is actually still part-owned by Roma, so word is that both clubs will spit his rehabilitation cost.
‘The Little Aeroplane’ has not exactly enjoyed smooth gliding in recent years as he has managed just six goals combined for Roma and Fulham, and has one Sampdoria goal to his credit in what is building up to be his third consecutive injury-interrupted season.
Montella had been so desperately hoping to continue in the same vein as his three previous Sampdoria seasons, where he had scored 54 goals in 3 seasons with the Blucerchiati between 1996 and 1999.
Despite his absence for most of the campaign so far, the Genoa-based side have been making a good account for themselves and currently sit on eighth place with an outside shot at the final Champions League spot.
