Roma and Mexes' former club Auxerre are in dispute over the player's transfer and the case has been referred to the arbitration for sport council in Lausanne.

Mexes claimed he exercised a clause in his contract which stated he could move on for €4 million, but Auxerre are adamant no such clause existed.

There are likely to be glum faces either way when the decision is made, but Mexes is happy in his new surroundings.

"I took my decision some time ago and will not change my mind," he said. "I am tranquil and only thinking about doing well for Roma.
