Matteo Ferrari’s agent has dismissed the transfer speculation that has been surrounding his client in recent days.

The defender has been linked with a host of clubs after it was claimed that Everton wouldn’t be taking up their option to sign him after a season on loan from Roma.

The former Parma stopper has since seen his name associated with clubs such as Palermo, Fiorentina and even Juventus.

However, his representative has told an Italian radio programme that the stories don’t reflect the truth.

“I deny that we are in negotiations with any other club for Ferrari,” Gianni Corci told Radio Incontro.

“I’ve even seen reports that we are talking to Juventus, but there is absolutely nothing going on with them.”

It’s unclear at this stage where Ferrari, a defender once tipped to reach the top, will be playing his football in the 2006-07 campaign.

ROMA - Matteo Ferrari e Shabani Nonda nel mirino di diverse squadre estere. Alla Roma sono arrivate offerte sia per il difensore, reduce dall'esperienza all'Everton in prestito, sia per l'attaccante congolese. Nel primo caso, però, sembra difficile che l'operazione vada in porto. Ferrari è stato richiesto da Fenerbahce, Galatasaray,Blackburn, Portsmouth, Bolton e da qualche squadra francese ma l'alto ingaggio del giocatore (1,5 milioni di euro a stagione), in alcuni casi, e la poca convinzione dello stesso difensore di accettare certe proposte (specie quelle inglesi), in altri, rendono il percorso piuttosto tortuoso. Più facile che si sblocchi qualcosa per Nonda. Anche per l'attaccante sono arrivate richieste da Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, squadre inglesi e spagnole, ma nel suo caso dovrebbe essere più facile per la Roma trovargli una sistemazione, magari cedendolo in prestito con riscatto.
