Recently, Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani claimed his contract renewal was nearly finished and he expected to sign a new deal within the next few days. On Monday, the player's agent, Franco Zavaglia, discussed the situation.

"Yesterday, Aquilani spoke about his contract and I can only confirm what he said and that there will be a turning point within a short time," he revealed to Romagiallorossa.com.

"There are just a few minor details."

The Italian international has been hampered by injuries this season, only making 19 appearances for his club side in all competitions. He will be hoping to put his physical fitness woes behind him and help Roma in reaching fourth place in the final stages of the season.

The 24-year-old's current contract expires in June of 2010. Earlier this year, there were reports that both Juventus and Inter were interested in acquiring his services.

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has told Alberto Aquilani and Daniele de Rossi to stay with Roma.

Mihajlovic had two years at Roma and said: "One of the most beautiful things that one can dream about is to be born in a town and play for the team you supported when you were small, to become, then, a symbol.

"At such a point, money is not important. They could go to Inter Milan to earn more. But you have to see what your heart tells you.

"I agree, however, that it's their choice, I would do it myself, without thinking about the money, but looking to my heart."

【永恒罗马网】阿奎拉尼：我很快就会正式和罗马续约

        4月1日，罗马中场阿奎拉尼接受了意大利广播电台的采访。他首先谈到了自己的身体状况，“很不幸，过去的一年里我遭遇了多次伤病，这太多了，最近的一次是我扭伤了脚踝。每次一开始看上去都不严重，但恢复时间总是延长，现在我又要休息将近一个月了，我的脚踝韧带有问题。但我必须彻底恢复再出场，否则情况只会变得更糟，我真的希望这倒霉的伤病是最后一次了。”

        阿奎拉尼接着表示自己无需动手术，“一开始的时候有手术治疗的可能，但我们最终决定采取保守疗法——就是现在我所做的，努力避免动手术。”

        最后他回应了自己的续约问题，“我说过很多次了，续约不是问题，我对此感到平静，并毫不担心。我唯一的压力是伤病，这使得我无法充分展现自己的价值。我和罗马俱乐部之间有着非常好的关系，一直如此，我们会达成协议，正式的公告很快就会发布。”
