Barca bid for Chivu	Sunday 4 June, 2006

Barcelona have long been associated with Cristian Chivu and reports say they’re turning up the pressure on Roma. The Romanian defender is still trying to decide whether his future lies at the Stadio Olimpico or elsewhere and he’s certainly not short on offers. Newspapers around Europe claim he is a transfer target for Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter and Milan. Now the report in Spanish media ‘Marca’ suggests Barca have leapt to the front of the queue. Chivu joined from Ajax in 2003-04 and his current contract does not expire until June 2008, but he is far from certain that he’ll remain in Rome.
