Click here for more news from abroad Roma have given Antonio Cassano a 15-day ultimatum to decide if he wishes to continue with the Eternal City club. The Giallorossi striker, who is under contract with the Roman outfit until June 2006, has so far rejected offers made by the club regarding a possible extension deal. Roma have reportedly raised their offer to 16 million euros (?1million) for five seasons but the player remains unimpressed. "In the next few hours we will make an appointment to see what possibilities there are for his contract extension," Roma sporting director Daniele Prade told Italian radio station 'Radio Anch'io'. "We have made our offer and he has made other requests. "We will see what happens in the next 15 days, we will do our best." The temperamental Cassano was linked with a move to Juventus in the summer but the Bianconeri in the end opted not to acquire the former Bari striker. The 23-year-old has since been relegated to the bench having made just two league appearances for the Romans this season. And Roma are unlikely to change their approach should Cassano failed to pen a new deal. His failure to accept a contract extension will no doubt hinder his chances of playing for Italy in next year's World Cup, with his last call-up to the national team dating back to June. |
