Roma Eye Thiago Motta As Aquilani Replacement – Report
Roma's contract negotiations with Alberto Aquilani have not been going smoothly, leading to reports the midfielder could be on his way out of the Stadio Olimpico.
Inter and Juventus are known admirers of the Italian international, whose deal expires in 2010. However, if Roma cannot secure his services for longer, it is likely they will sell the player this summer instead of letting him leave for free when his contract finally runs out.
In that case, Roma have lined up Genoa midfielder Thiago Motta as a replacement, according to Tuttosport.
The former Barcelona player has revived his career this season under coach Gian Piero Gasperini. A series of injury problems had previously plagued the 26-year-old, who required two major surgeries on his left knee.
Aquilani is currently on international duty with Italy. Meanwhile, Thiago Motta is preparing for the Grifoni's match against Fiorentina this Sunday.
