Florentino Perez has turned his attention towards Roma's Daniele De Rossi, and Arsenal ace Francesc Fabregas, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
The report suggests Perez has resorted to his plan B after failing to land Xabi Alonso from Liverpool. Los Merengues have been put off by his 40million price tag, and they are looking for a cheaper alternative. The cheaper move has come under a considerable storm of criticism given the club's recent grandiose spending, but Perez is unfazed and he is pushing for one of the two midfielders.
Fabregas has caught the eye in Madrid. The Arsenal man is currently away with La Seleccion at the Confederations Cup and signing him will be tough. The Gunners ace has always claimed he wants to stay in North London.
De Rossi poses Perez with the same challenge as he is also keen to stay with Roma, preferring to snub the chance of Champions League football in an attempt to continue with his home-town club.
"I will never leave Roma, I am loyal to this club and my future is here," De Rossi is quoted as saying by the Spanish daily.
The Italian is seen as the heir to Francesco Totti's throne at the club and his will to stay is likely to make Perez's shot miss the target.
