AS Roma refuse to give up on trying to prise striker Alberto Gilardino away from Parma.
Roma director general Franco Baldini declared yesterday: "If we didn't think Gilardino could be tempted away from Parma, we would stop trying to sign him."

Roma president Franco Sensi was also open in his ambitions for the Italy U21 ace.

"If we can sign Gilardino and Perrotta, then we will have a great team for the coming season," said Sensi.

Parma intermediaries have resumed talks with AS Roma over striker Alberto Gilardino.
Roma director general Franco Baldini began negotiations on Wednesday, just hours after selling Emerson to Juventus, with Parma representatives over Gilardino.

Baldini is determined to explore all avenues to reunite the young striker with his former coach, Cesare Prandelli, at Roma. But they won't meet Parma's cash price of £14.5 million.

Ferrari calls for Gilardino at Roma
New Roma signing Matteo Ferrari has called on his former team-mate Alberto Gilardino to join him at the capital club.
Roma are one of a number of clubs keen on signing Parma hit-man Gilardino and Ferrari is hoping to persuade him to follow in his footsteps..

"I think that Gilardino would love it because of the manager, the town, the fans, it's all perfect," Ferrari told Gazetta dello Sport.

"I believe in what (Franco) Baldini said and I am waiting for my friend Alberto to join me.

"Anyway Gilardino or not, Roma are already competitive."

Ferrari is confident he can help fill the void left by Walter Samuel's departure to Real Madrid at Roma this season.

"For me it is an advantage having taken his (Samuel's) place, because here there are still those people who helped him become the player he is now," added Ferrari.

"Anyway it's too soon to make comparisons, before everything we must find the right scheme in defence."
