Chivu agent cools Inter rumours Saturday 16 July, 2005
Cristian Chivu will report for pre-season training with Roma on Monday despite strong links with Inter.
The Romanian defender is a target for the San Siro giants but his agent has eagerly put the record straight.
"There has been talk of a presumed telephone call between Chivu and (Inter owner Massimo) Moratti," Andrea Pretti told Radio Incontro.
"There has even been suggestions that Chivu has already had an Inter medical, and that he won’t turn up for Roma’s campaign.
"I am not hiding the fact that Inter are interested in my client, but Roma see him as untransferable and he will join up with his teammates on Monday."
However, Pretti did seemingly leave the door open for Roberto Mancini’s side to make a bid for the stopper.
"If Inter want Chivu then they will have to turn to Roma," he added. "Only then will my player evaluate his situation."
Inter are looking for a central defender and have turned their attention to the former Ajax ace after their move for Walter Samuel of Real Madrid stalled.
Inter almost signed Chivu two years ago but allowed Roma to pounce after declining to take up their option on him.
