Spalletti close to the sack

The future of Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti will be decided by the end of the week, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Giallorossi lost 4-1 at Fiorentina on Saturday and now appear unlikely to qualify for next year's Champions League.

The news comes as a serious blow to Roma and the Sensi family, who need the money from European competition.

Despite statements to the contrary, Roma President Rosella Sensi is said to be unhappy with the spirit shown by the team.

David Pizarro became the 12th Roma player to be sent off this season and some fear Spalletti has lost the dressing room.

The Tuscan tactician held talks with Chelsea last summer about the then vacant job at Stamford Bridge and Daniele De Rossi, for one, has found it hard to forgive him.

Sensi also had reservations about the team Spalletti put out on Saturday and his decision to line up Marco Cassetti in central defence instead of Souleymane Diamoutene.

She is expected to arrive at the club's training ground, Trigoria, for crisis talks with Spalletti later this week.

The Italian Press have leapt on rumours of a break between the boardroom and the bench, as Sensi insists the players need to go in ritiro, an idea Spalletti and his team don't agree with.

For now, uncertainty appears to reign at Roma, as speculation continues to mount regarding an offer to buy out the Sensi family.

The Giallorossi currently lie sixth in Serie A, six points adrift of Fiorentina, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League spot.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is edging closer to a move to AC Milan.

Corriere dello Sport says Spalletti is the man Milan wants to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, should they lose their coach to Chelsea in the summer.

Spalletti has already discussed transfer plans with Milan intermediaries, which will include going for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Udinese pair Felipe and Antonio di Natale are also on Milan's shopping list.

Spalletti will introduce a 4-2-3-1 system to the Rossoneri and is prepared to work with Ronaldinho, on the express request of Milan president Silvio Berlusconi.

Report: Luciano Spalletti Fed Up With Roma
Press reports claim that the tactician is fuming at being left out of the clear-the-air meeting which ended the ‘ritiro’ and is pondering a move away from the Olimpico.

Roma president Rosella Sensi ordered the entire squad into a training camp at the Trigoria complex after last weekend’s dismal 4-1 defeat by Fiorentina.

The measure was expected to last until the end of the season, but captain Francesco Totti, midfielder Daniele De Rossi and technical director Bruno Conti were summoned to Villa Pacelli, the club’s headquarters, on Wednesday and Sensi agreed to release the squad.

But according to the Corriere dello Sport, coach Luciano Spalletti was apparently left baffled by the decision to keep him out of the meeting, and this could be the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back.  

There have been suggestions for weeks now that the Tuscan tactician will not sit on the Giallorossi bench next season, despite being tied to the club until 2011.

He does not lack suitors, as Milan are said to be monitoring the situation and could move for the 50-year-old if Carlo Ancelotti decides to accept Chelsea’s offer this summer.
