Roma are ready to rival their Serie A adversaries in the quest to land Monaco full back Patrice Evra.
The France international is coveted by a string of Europe's top clubs, with Manchester United and Barcelona among his suitors.
Evra claims he has been contacted by both those clubs, along with Internazionale, Juventus and Milan, during the past 12 months.
He has, thus far, resisted the temptation to leave Ligue 1 for a sterner challenge and signed a contract keeping him at Monaco until 2008 in September.
But that is unlikely to deter his suitors from launching a renewed attempt to prise the defender away from the Principality next summer.
Reports suggest Roma are now willing to join in the bidding for the 23-year-old after watching Evra in action several times this season.
The concern for Roma, though, is they may lack the financial clout to rival the Milan duo and Juventus for Evra's signature.
