All you have to do is ask. Gentile was doping for the third straight win and the Under team did not disappoint him. After Norway and Moldavia, the Italians beat Slovenia (3-0) with two goals by Bianchi and one goal by Chiellini. An important win that increases the lead in the standings, after Belarus lost against Moldavia, 3-2. The team was slow and non-conclusive in the first half, and more lively and constructive in the second when the match took on another look. In fact all three goals were scored in the second half.
The road to the European Championships continues in the best way possible for the Under team. On Tuesday, Italy will be on the field against for another qualifying match in Mantova against Belarus.
Gentile defines these two matches as being the most important. With two important absences, Ferronetti and Montolivo, the Under 21 team faced Slovenia with the same module used by Gentile at the start of the season, the 4-4-2, but with another mentality with respect to the two previous matches against Norway and Moldavia, both won by Italy. In fact, before the match against Slovenia, the coach called attention to the need to change the attitude of his players on the field and take advantage of the potential offered by this group, that technically speaking Gentile has always considered as being greater than the one offered by the previous team.
The match started off well, but Bianchi wastes two scoring occasions: one on 10' and the second on 32'.
The first half closes well under the expectations even because the Under team is not able to take advantage of the occasions that Slovenia gives them on a silver tray.
The second half starts off better. Gentile substitute Rosina on the right touch with Pagano and on 17' the player give Ronaldo Bianchi a fantastic cross that Bianchi heads in the net scoring his second goal with the Under team.
The Under team, now with more players on the field since a Slovenian player was red-carded, scores is second goal: cross by Potenza, perfect timing by Chiellini who heads the ball into the net and scores. A goal that is very similar to the previous one: The Under team discovers the weak points of the Slovenia team on the right touch and continues to attack.
On 32', Bianchi unleashes a right-footed shot from outside the box and scores his second goal of the match (third goal on the National team), after receiving a cross from Pagano.
And now Belarus on Mantova on Tuesday: Gentile will have to do without Chiellini, disqualified.
Gentile was satisfied at the end of the match: "This is a very important win - he said. We played a very good second half, a team that is halfway between the one seen against Norway and the one seen against Moldavia. But there are various things that still have to improve. For example, I was very angry when Chiellini was yellow-carded, you can't fall into traps like these. We will have to do without him against Belarus: but if the players are able to recover, the same team, except for Chiellini, will be on the field."
