Totti opts against surgery Saturday 2 June, 2007 大意:队长本人决定不做这个手术,他决定不取出这些东西,尽管医生建议其这么做.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Francesco Totti has decided not to remove the metal plaque from his ankle despite the advice of his doctor.
The Roma captain fractured his left ankle during a match with Empoli in February 2006 and made a remarkable recovery to be fit for the World Cup.
During the original operation, a metal plaque was attached to the bone to stabilise the injury and was meant to be removed after a few months.
The medic who performed the surgery, Professor Mariani, had advised Totti to take the plaque out this summer to avoid potential problems later on in life.
However, as this would involve two months without training and affect his summer break, today the Giallorossi star decided he will carry on in his current condition.
Despite the serious injury, Totti has finished this season as Serie A Capocannoniere with 26 goals and could also win the European Golden Shoe.
