"Non è previsto nessun incontro con la Roma nei prossimi giorni, nessuno ci ha più chiamato” ha detto al Romanista Fabio Parisi, procuratore del difensore giallorosso Christian Panucci, ormai in attesa da settimane di una convocazione da parte della società per il prolungamento di contratto.

Roma defender Christian Panucci wants to leave as his patience has run out following his latest omission from the first eleven.

Panucci had already expressed his disappointment in the previous weeks at not finding too much space in the Roma team this season.

"I have decided: I'm leaving Roma," declared the veteran player to Sky Sport 24 at the end of the match against Napoli.

"I don't feel respected by the coach. I spent eight wonderful years here in Rome."

However, the player still does not know where he will spend the remaining part of the season.

"I still haven't made any contacts with other clubs," admitted Panucci.

A few minutes before the comments of the defender, coach Luciano Spalletti had declared that Panucci had refused to sit on the bench once he was told that he will not be in the first eleven.

The director of sports Daniele Prade also said that the player will be fined for his behaviour.

Roma technical director Bruno Conti expressed his anger for the situation which erupted in the past hours following Christian Panucci's announcement that he is leaving the club.

However Conti believes that the Giallorossi have everything under control and this situation will be managed by the club.

"We know the work that we do and how to manage certain situations," declared the former Roma player to Sky Sport.

"Like him [Panucci], we have other players whose contract expires at the end of the season and which we must take care of.

"Today we're only talking about Panucci, but even [Simone] Perrotta did not play and even [Francesco] Totti, who just returned recently, accepted the bench.

"I think that choices must be made, then these problems we shall manage them with the club."

Roma obtained a precious and important win away against Napoli this afternoon that allowed them to climb into fifth place, three points away from the Champions League zone.
