Roma have "Gilardino privilege"

Among reports of a deal with Juve, the Giallorossi insist they are still leading the race to sign Alberto Gilardino and Matteo Ferrari.
“The player is waiting to see what Parma’s position is,” explained director of sport Franco Baldini, “seeing as their administrator has always denied Gilardino is on the market. In any case, if he is for sale then Roma are counting on a privileged relationship.”
Gilardino has made no secret of his intention to follow Coach Cesare Prandelli to Roma, but the club will find it difficult to compete with the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid in an auction.
“Gilardino is a dream,” added Baldini, “and we will follow that dream to the very end. We believe he can be a Roma player.”
He isn’t the only Parma man who is set to join Prandelli in the Capital, as just days separate Matteo Ferrari from a new contract.
“The deal with Ferrari is already done,” stressed the director of sport. “All that is missing now are minor details, nothing more than that.”
