Lee's move to Roma called off

Tottenham's Lee Young-pyo is poised to remain at White Hart Lane, after the left back's move to Roma fell through.

Lee appeared to be on the brink of a move to the Giallorossi after the player's South Korean agent Chin Sung-Won claimed a deal was on the verge of completion.

However, it is now understood that Lee has opted to remain with Martin Jol's side instead, rather than chance his arm in Serie A.

The latest development is sure to come as a blow to Roma coach Luciano Spalletti, who has been a long-term admirer of the player.

An official from the Global Sports and Entertainment Network confirmed: "We held negotiations with AS Roma and neared the final stages of a deal but the signing of the deal was called off for personal reasons."
