Roma coach: Villarreal result was unjust
tribalfootball.com - March 26, 2004
Villarreal striker Sonny Anderson's crucial second-half goal dumped AS Roma out of the UEFA Cup last night.
Emerson and Antonio Cassano had Roma 2-0 up and going into the next round, before Anderson's effort on 66 minutes.
Afterwards, AS Roma coach Fabio Capello claimed the result was "unjust", insisting his team deserved to win by more.
"We have had chances, but we have not been able to take advantage of them, although we have played with desire and force," said Capello.
"The decisive game was in Villarreal, where the Spanish team had three chances to score and scored two goals. In addition, the second of them, the one of Jose Mari, was a gift from us.
"The truth is that I believe that this is an unjust result. We deserved more goals, we had chances and the single one Villarreal had, they scored from."
