This summer transfer market seems to be characterized by the duel between Inter and Roma. Following the Cristian Chivu saga, which has not yet come to an end, both clubs will be squaring off for the services of Lazio's Jimenez.

For Coach Luciano Spalletti, the Biancoceleste player is the ideal substitute for both Perrotta and Mancini and would prove a very useful team member for next season.

However, many see this as a move to irritate the Nerazzurri who had been following the Chilean midfielder for the past weeks. Roma are also trying to convince Chivu from joining Real Madrid or Barcelona rather than going to Inter, in order not to strengthen a direct rival.

If Inter fail to land Jimenez, the Nerazzurri are rumoured to be targeting Pavel Nedved of Juventus as an alternative.
